Scabies presents as intense itching, particularly at night. This itching results from a mite burrowing under your skin.
Look for a characteristic rash: tiny, pimple-like bumps or blisters, often in clusters. These may be accompanied by raised, thread-like lines.
Common areas affected include the spaces between fingers, wrists, elbows, armpits, and genitals. Infants may show rashes on their scalp, palms, and soles.
Secondary bacterial skin infections can develop from scratching. Watch for signs of infection like increased redness, swelling, pus, or pain.
If you suspect scabies, consult a doctor immediately. They can diagnose the condition and prescribe appropriate treatment.
