Avoid combining Revatio with nitrates, such as nitroglycerin. This combination can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure.
Similarly, refrain from using Revatio with alpha-blockers, which are often prescribed for high blood pressure or enlarged prostate. Concurrent use may significantly lower blood pressure, potentially leading to dizziness or fainting.
Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors, like ketoconazole and ritonavir, increase Revatio levels in the blood. This raises the risk of side effects. Consult your doctor before combining these medications.
Conversely, strong CYP3A4 inducers, such as rifampin and St. John’s Wort, can decrease Revatio’s effectiveness. Your doctor should be informed about any herbal supplements or medications you are taking.
Always inform your doctor or pharmacist about all medications, including over-the-counter drugs, supplements, and herbal remedies, you’re currently taking or plan to take.
Failure to disclose medication interactions can have serious health consequences.
